Happy Year of the Pig!
February 16, 2007 at 11:22 am | In california, holidays |I don’t think I’m going to be online much this weekend, so I thought I’d go ahead and wish you a very happy Chinese New Year on Sunday! I’ll be celebrating at Church of Craft, myself.
I took these pictures in Chinatown in Los Angeles last month and just loved the little guys especially… and I’m a big fan of pigs in general (just glance up to the top center of the page to see me with my all-time favorite) so I have high hopes for the coming year.

Yay! This is a great post Susan. Apparently the Year of the Pig is the best year to have a baby! It’s all about piglets.

The Chinese government has the cutest stamps for the New Year. They have a momma pig and her babies on the. Best part: sweet ‘n’ sour flavored glue and pork scented paper!

NPR did a blurb the other day about the Chinese government banning all tv ads using pigs…such a shame, they are cute!

Hi from Sydney. When is the best time of the year to see crafty Portland?

[...] We ended up with all kinds of cute holders - don’t you love those pink buttons? Susan was a special guest (yay!), and made an iPod cozy in the shape of a pig to celebrate Chinese New Year. [...]

wow! that’s good to know about the super-auspicious piglets, Nat! but too bad about the tv ads being banned, I love pigs too. And I found a pic of the stamps — adorable: http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_2150217.html
And Judy, I’d say it would be especially nice in the late summer (July through September usually has beautiful, sunny weather) but really any time of year is nice, as long as you don’t mind rain — it’s very mild in general. Definitely come visit!
