Bead Simple event at Powell’s April 7!

Now that it’s right around the corner, I wanted to post again about my upcoming Bead Simple book event at the downtown Powell’s Books here in Portland next Monday night — if you’re in town, I hope you can make it over!

Bead Simple event at Powell's Books - make your own earrings!

I’ll do a short reading and show a bunch of the 150 jewelry projects from the book, and my Portland guest designers will be there with their work, too. Plus everyone who comes is invited to make a pair of Solo Earrings to bring home as part of a little jewelry 101 demo! I’ll bring pliers, supplies, and a big stash of vintage beads from my collection (like these sparklers) for you to choose from…

Vintage beads up for grabs!

Please pass the word on to friends and I hope to see you next week!

I’m also planning some book events later in the year (with husband and baby in tow) in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina, so stay tuned for updates on those…

  1. Ooooh! So jealous! Yet another time I wish I lived in Portland. When we were there last summer, we visited the downtown Powell’s and fell in luuuuuuuuuv. I could have spent an entire day in there. Hey, it’s where I bought my copy of Super Crafty! :) Congrats!

  2. I am extremely picky about my jewelry so I decided last year that I would start making it. That started into many other projects and craftiness but jewelry is my first love.

I’m going to pick up your book. From what I’ve seen, it definately suites my style. Good work!

  3. Thanks to The Angry Chicken, I found your site. I love making jewelry but, as I am self-taught, I’ve missed a few of the basics along the way (I think I’ve made things more difficult than they are). Soooo, I can’t wait to get the book to fill in my knowledge gaps. I only wish I was in Portland to get it in person.

Congrats on a job well done!

  4. My father will be in Portland – I will ask him to stop by and spread the word!

  5. I’m planning on attending. I don’t have a copy of your book yet, do I need to preorder through Powell’s or will I be able to purchase one during the event?

  6. Congratulations on the book! I’ll definitely add it to my collection if it’s available from Amazon – I’m in the UK.
