my favorite color lately

which I totally love, they remind me so much of the Sunset cover I fell for.
and Andrew surprised me with flowers
to match those sandals I found last week!
Orange has been a total pick-me-up for me lately. I’ve been wearing the sandals a ton with the new retro shift dress I sewed — the combination is perfect for summer. I added a few tweaks and variations to Christine’s original idea and I just love it, I’ve already found the fabric for my next one.
I’m writing a review of Chic & Simple Sewing this week now that I’ve had a chance to sew from it, with lots of pictures from my project (which, believe it or not, isn’t orange and neither is the next one I’m planning — but I did get some of this at Cool Cottons to make a skirt!).

This may sound goofy, but I have found myself gravitating to certain colors each year. Not like a fashion trend, but just finding myself inspired by a particular color at different points in my life. Last year, it was orange in a very.big.way. And it was weird, because I’d never really been very in to orange. Then, all of a sudden, I couldn’t get enough of it. I wanted it on everything! Incidentally, it was a time in my life when I had a huge surge of creativity. Not sure if there was a correlation. I’m still loving orange, but have found that, in the last few months, I’m now pulling toward greens (mostly kelly or chartreuse, my all-time fave) Who knows what these colors will have in store for me this year!
I love seeing your color theme – I hope it continues!

Perfect color for backyard chairs. So inviting. And those shoes are gorgeous. If they ever are missing – you wil probably find them in my closet!
